Entering Meds
Entering your Residents’ Medications in ResiDex allows you to:
- Manage a digital record of your resident's Medications
- Makes paper based or e- charting medications quick and easy
- Manages med lists for reports such as referrals, profiles
To Enter a Basic Medication for a Resident
From the Resident Meds screen,
Press the “New” Button at the top of the screenr (or Ctrl+ N)
- Select the desired Med from the med list or add it by pressing the “+”
- Start Date: Enter the date the Medication
- Dosage & Unit: Enter Dosage & Unit as follows:
Dosage: 325 mg = 1 Unit: Tab
- Route: Select the Route from the Drop Down list
- Frequency: Specify how many times a Medication will be given in a day. or select 'As Needed'.
- Days: Specify what days this med is provided.
- Leave specified as "Daily"(the default value) / or
- Check the required days / or
- Enter every ___ days / or
- Select a specialized times from the drop list /or
- Select "Monthly" and fill in specific details below
- Duration Days & Discontinue: Fill in either of these values and it will automatically fill the other
- Med Setup: Specify who is responsible for med setup .
- Med Admin: specify who provides the med assist /admin
- Indication(s): Indicate what the medication is treating
- Indication(s) Button: Use to select the diagnosis or usage
- Special Med Instructions: this field is optional for scheduled meds, but required for "as needed" meds.
Navigate through each field by pressing tab. After you have entered all of the required information. If you have specified that this medication is to be given a certain number of times a day, you will now be prompted to enter the times this medication is to be given. Enter the times in the area below.
How to Enter an As Needed Medication
- Follow the steps to enter a basic medication
- In the "Frequency" field - select "As Needed"
- We recommend entering "Indications"
- Enter the "Special Instructions"
- Select a "Report to Nurse" option
How to Enter a Complex Medication
A complex medication medication is one that has a dosage that varies on a schedule such as every other day. For medications such as these, you will follow the instructions to enter a medication, but you will enter more than one medication of the same name. The effective date will vary for each medication.
