MD Orders (MN)

MD Orders are for doctors to indicate if individual residents are appropriate for assisted living. Doctors annually review a list of all of the services and medications a resident has (the MD order) and signs it, indicating that resident is suitable for Assisted Living.

MD Orders are only relevant for some states, where they are required (for instance, Minnesota.) If MD Orders are not visible for you, then they are not required in your state.

MD Order Setup

Prior to entering an MD order you need to make sure you have a service setup that will allow a service to automatically create. The service will:

  • Show on the Daily Assignment/Today Screen for the specified provider on the day it is due
  • Alert the appropriate user of upcoming MD orders that are due soon
  • Keep the MD order effective date and MD order service date in sync

To setup the "Physician Order Service"

  • Go to the "Global Service List"
  • Verify there is an ACTIVE service called "MD orders" OR "Physician Orders" listed
  • Make sure it is in the "Category" "MD Order"

How to Enter an MD Order

  • Open a Resident Profile
  • Open the "Option list" (white box at the bottom of the screen)
  • Select “MD Orders” from the list
  • Click "New"
  • Edit the MD name if needed (The options here were entered in the "Health Info" screen)
  • Enter the Initial Orders date (if applicable)
  • Edit the Re-certification period start (The date will default in as the admit date OR the day after the last MD order expired)
  • Edit the Re-certification period end (if needed)

    • Press Save
