E-Chart Overview

The Today screen is an interactive list of services that are scheduled to be performed for your residents. Services can be organized by time and assigned to a specific provider. In addition, you may choose to use the paper form of the Today screen called the "Daily Assignment Sheet". Services can also be assigned to a specific shift or General Provider and several caregivers can work from the same "to-do list” or "Today" screen.

Each service has the following elements (some are optional):

  • Scheduled Time for service to be provided (if a time is not scheduled, it will show up as “To Schedule”)
  • Est minutes (optional)
  • Resident name
  • Resident’s Unit number
  • Name of service to be provided
  • Special instructions - Task Details - instructions for the caregivers
  • Color coding.
    • Blue = med assist
    • No color = services
    • Pink = more than an hour has past since service was supposed to be provided
    • Yellow = more than an hour before task is to be provided
    • Gray for finished tasks - visible when in the "Show All" view
  • Code Status
  • Values for any specified service such as vital signs or number of laundry loads

Functionality of the Today Screen:

  • Recapping of scheduled services and medications
  • Recapping unscheduled services
  • Documenting when an as needed medication was given and why it was given
  • Documenting the "outcome" from an as needed med administration
  • Documenting vitals (and other data) for residents
  • Tracking the length of time it takes to perform services
  • Capture the reason for skipped or declined medications or services

Using the Today Screen:

To use the Today screen, a Caregiver logs into ResiDex with his or her own user name and password and selects a provider on the "Today Screen".  A user MUST use his or her own log-in information as this will capture the correct initials that will display on the "electronic charting logs".

Benefits of using the Today Screen:

  • Saves paper
  • Saves time
  • More accurate records
  • Ability to track service completion
