Edit/ End Services
You can easily alter a client's service details whenever they need to to be edited, or changed. Following this method will allow you to keep a client's service history complete, clear, accurate and up to date. It will save time during data entry
Why Edit a Service?
Whenever a service changes, you want to be able to keep a history of what was previously scheduled. There are several reasons why you would need to edit a service. Some reasons you may find yourself editing a service would include:
- A service changing from one service to another
- A service going on hold (for a known time frame)
- A service frequency changing
- A service time is changing
- A service Provider changing
Before you begin:
Make sure you are familiar with entering a basic service.
Editing a Service's Details
If a Service's details (i.e., frequency, day of the week, time of day, etc) change:
- Go to the Resident Service List
- Right click on the service that needs to be edited
- Select Discontinue and Restart
- A window will appear where you will put the end date of the current service.
- The date you enter will be the LAST day the service is to be performed as it is currently configured
- In the blank service field SELECT THE SAME SERVICE NAME
- Enter the first date the service is to be performed with it's new details
- Press OK to close the screen
Changing One Service to a Different Service
There may be a time when you need to change a service from one service to another. A resident may go from a tub bath to a shower service or from Escorts to Meal to Meal Tray. In both of these cases, ResiDex has a quick way to make this change. You will discontinue and restart the service by:
- Going to the Resident Service List
- Right click on the service that needs to be changed
- Select Discontinue and Restart
- A window will appear where you will put the end date of the current service.
- NOTE: the date you enter will be the LAST day that current service will be done
- In the blank field - select the NEW service name with the effective date
- NOTE: this is the FIRST day the service is to be performed
- If the provider needs changed, you may change it
- Press OK to close the screen
Dealing with Rotating Service Times
You may get an order for a blood glucose check to be done for a specified number of days at a certain time of day. (Example: 7 days at 7:00 AM, 7 days at 12:00 PM, 7 days at 5:00 PM) This is a very complex scenario, but we can enter this into ResiDex. To set this up, you will use a series of Discontinued and Restarted services.
- Start with entering the service as normal
- Right click on the service and select "Discontinue and Restart"
- Put the end date of the date the service is to end
- Enter the new start date of when the service is to begin again
- Press OK to close the screen
Since the discontinue date is most likely in the future, you will now have two duplicate services on the resident service list.
- Click on the new service line (effective date is in the future and DOES NOT have an end date)
- Edit the details (time or provider) as needed
- If that service is to be performed for a specified date range, repeat the above steps again
NOTE: you will continue editing the NEWEST created line item (updating the time and/or provider) and using the Discontinue and Restart option on the NEWEST created line item until the order is entered.
