Recommendations

To Setup ResiDex on an iPad We recommend several apps

  • Pocket Cloud
  • RDP Lite
  • 2x Client

Regardless of the app you choose, we recommend that you use ResiDex on the Ipad in a resolution of 800 X 600, and locking the iPad in landscape mode before you log in.

Limitations

ResiDex on the iPad doesn't support the user with A/R roles as well (too many tabs).

Security:

  • Please don't save the PC Login password on your Ipad - in case your iPad is stolen.
  • Turn on "Find my iPad"

Initial Setup

The following instructions are configuring the Free version of the "PocketCloud" app. The Free Version of this App will work fine, but you can upgrade to "PocketCloud Pro" if you wish. The Pro version will allow you to specify your screen resolution on the iPad, which would make ResiDex a little easier to use.

  • Download the PocketCloud app from the appstore.
  • Open Pocket Could app
  • Select "Connection Settings" 
    • Nickname: "ResiDex"
    • Host: <we will provide you with the 'host' name>
    • Username: each iPad must have it's own pc login name, which we will provide to you.  enter the PC login assigned to this iPad. Typically these user names start with "ts2\" this field. Please note it is essential that the "\" after the "ts2" in the user names be a backslash ("\") and NOT a forwardslash ("/") - if you use a forward slash instead of a backslash, the connection will not work for you.

      Please note, to find "\" on the iPad keyboard, press the ".?123" button from the regular keyboard screen, which opens the numbers and symbols screen. Press the "#+=" button for the advanced symbols screen, where you will find "\".
    • Password: The password for all iPad loginnames is is Case sensitive: CAPITAL and lowercase letters need to be entered correctly.
    • Domain, Resolution, Keyboard Layout, & Advanced Settings: Skip these settings.

Editing a PocketCloud setup that isn't working

Use the following instructions if you are getting messages about user names or passwords being incorrect.

  • Open PocketCloud
  • Press Connection Settings
    • Host: Verify your host name is, EXACTLY what was provided to you

User name: Verify that the username entered is correct (again, if your username is spelled "ts2/" it will NOT work. Make sure it is spelled "ts2\")

If the user name is incorrect:

  • Click on the user name field
  • Re-write the username
  • Press the Save button.

 

Password: re-write the password.

  • Click on the password field. Make sure it is spelled exactly as written. To use capital letters on the iPad keyboard, press the "up arrow" button, and then press the letter you wish to be capitalized.
  • Press Save.
  • Press Done.

Try connecting again, by pressing the "Connect" button under "ResiDex"
