ResiDex Hosting requirements for Apple / Mac Computers
Technical Requirements
- ResiDex Hosting clients must have a high speed internet connection for hosting to be an appropriate.
- Apple computers must have at least 2 GB of RAM, however we highly recommend more than 2GB of RAM.
- We highly recommend turning on Software Updates so your local Mac OS is regularly updated.
- ResiDex Hosting clients using macs must have Remote Desktop Connection Client For Mac version 2.1 or higher.
Install
You can access the Remote Desktop for Mac download and download the application. Follow the instructions to download and install. To find out what Mac version you have to make sure it is compatible:
- Click the "Apple" in the upper left corner using a two finger click
- Hold and pull down until you select "About this Mac"
- A window will display showing what version you are using
Configure
- Click on Remote Desktop Connection
- Type in the "Computer Name"
- Click "File"
- Select "Open a Saved Connection" or "Edit a Connection"
- Select "RDC Connection"
- Select "Default.rdp" and click "Open"
- You can edit the display to specify your preferred screen resolution
To Share a Folder (to link Pictures or Documents):
First Create a Folder: This folder will be granted access to from your remote desktop connection.
- From your Mac -> click "Finder"
- Click "Document" and do a "two finger click"
- Select "New Folder" -> After it is created, rename it
- Copy any items you want to access from within ResiDex to this folder
Grant Access to this Folder from within ResiDex
- Follow the steps to "Configure the "Remote Desktop Connection"
- Instead of click "Display" click on "Drives"
- Select "Other folders.."
- Click on "Users" and select the user
- Select the Folder you created in the previous step
After the setup is complete you can use the "shared" folder to attach photos and link documents as normal.
