Points & Levels

Many Assisted Living facilities charge for services using a point system to calculate a "level of care" needed for a resident - services are assigned point values, the total of which indicate what care level is required for a resident. This often simplifies determining what to charge a resident and what Care / Supplemental Packages they may need.

ResiDex supports multiple methodologies to calculate care levels and is willing to implement different approaches. Contact us for more information, however, a Point system is the most common.

Concept Overview

  • Points are designed to represent actual time spent providing care, so there is generally a correspondence between points and minutes (ie 4 minutes of HHA time = 1 point)
  • Nurse's time is more expensive, so there would be a different calculation for Nurse's time (ie 2 minutes of a Nurse's time = 1 point)
  • In ResiDex, you can record a point value for a service instance; A service instance valued at 1 point that is provided daily is a 7-points per week service.
  • Serving some residents takes longer than others; point calculation assumes that each person takes up an average amount of time, making the calculation simpler, easier to understand and easier to explain
